Balancing Aesthetics with Functionality in Home Modifications: Choosing Modern, Stylish, and Practical Options
As more elderly individuals choose to age in place, the demand for home modifications that provide safety without compromising style has grown significantly.
Integrating ramps, grab bars, and non-slip floors into a home’s design is essential for ensuring the safety and accessibility of elderly residents, but these modifications need not detract from the home’s aesthetics.
By carefully selecting modern and stylish yet practical options, homeowners can create an environment that is both functional and visually appealing.

FAQs
How can disabled accessibility be improved in my home?
There are a number of things you can do to offer easy access to the disabled. Handrails, grab bars and lifts can be installed to make it easier for them to move around, along with ramps and wider doorways. Additionally, incorporating safety features in both the bathroom and the kitchen is essential, as they are both areas with a higher risk of falling or accidents.
Where can disability handrails be installed in my home?
According to the Australian Standard, disability handrails should be no less than 865mm vertically from the floor or greater than 1000mm from the nosing of a stair.
What is the standard height of disability handrails?
According to the Australian Standard, disability handrails should be no less than 865mm vertically from the floor or greater than 1000mm from the nosing of a stair.
